Keratosis Removal On YouTube

Keratosis is a skin disorder that may result form excessive exposure to sunlight or hereditary. There are various methods that can successfully be used to remove Keratosis, many of which people have uploaded recordings of their treatment onto YouTube. These include Cryotherapy, surgical removal, topical chemotherapy with 5-fluorouracil, Solaraze and Aldama and photodynamic therapy. They are discussed as follows

Cryotherapy

This method is preferred by a number of people for the treatment of isolated superficial actinic Keratosis. Keratosis resides in the epithelium. Liquid nitrogen is used to cause the separation of the epidermis and endodermis resulting to a very high non-scaring method of therapy for the treatment of superficial actinic Keratosis.

Those patients who have darker complexion may develop hypo-pigmentation after freezing when treating multiple regions on the face. This may result to white spots on the face of the patient.

Surgical removal

Superficial actinic Keratosis can also be removed through a surgical removal. Minor surgical procedures can be administered to remove superficial actinic Keratosis. Superficial actinic Keratosis is mostly found on the scalp.

Topical chemotherapy with 5-fluorouracil

Topical chemotherapy with 5-fluorouracil is an effective method for the treatment of superficial actinic Keratosis. It uses 5-fluorouracil and brand names for 5-fluorouracil is Carac and Efudix. Treating superficial actinic Keratosis Carac is applied once and Efudix is applied twice daily for up to 21 days.

After applying 5-fluorouracil for one week the lesion becomes red, inflamed and tender. It then eventually forms a crust and fall off. For some cases the inflammation may become intense and treatment is stopped before completion. The agents are integrated into the rapidly dividing cells which results to cell death. Clinical tests show those normal cells are not much affected. Thick lesions are most inflamed and they can be managed by removing them surgically before administering tropical chemotherapy.

Patients should be aware of the various stages of inflammation when administering treatment. One may experience discomfort for one week or more during this period of inflammation. Lesions on the face do not require longer period to treat as those on the back.

Other agents that can be used for treating superficial Keratosis include Diclofinac sodium gel brand name is Solareze and Imiquimod 5% cream brand name is Aldama. These agents are used by combining with nitrogen and they are very effective in eliminating superficial Keratosis.

Photodynamic therapy

This is another way that is recommended for removing superficial actinic Keratosis.5-aminolevulinic acid is used to cause a reaction with the cancer cells together with keratinic cells related to superficial actinic Keratosis.
